Harrisburg, IL man sentenced to prison on gun, drug charges

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

A man from Harrisburg, Ill. was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday for drug and weapons charges.

Officials say Michael Ryan Brogan, 35, was arrested following an investigation into a a possible domestic violence in June 2012.

During the investigation, police entered into Brogan's home to speak with a potential victim.

That's when police saw various items of drug paraphernalia in plain view.

After getting a search warrant, officials went back later and found items that suggested the manufacture of methamphetamine.

On April 18, 2015, Brogan was pulled over while driving and cited for driving without a license.

During the traffic stop, a warrant check found that Brogan was wanted in Saline County for failing to appear for a scheduled court date.

Brogan was arrested then, and during a search of the vehicle, troopers found a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol under the driver's seat.

Brogan was charged with unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

He faces a total of 13 years in prison.
