Homecoming parade claims parking spots in downtown Cape Girardeau


Cape Girardeau police will restrict parking along the Southeast Missouri State University Homecoming Parade on Saturday, October 17.

Parking will be prohibited along the parade route from West End, East to Main Street.

Parking spots will also be blocked off Main Street from Park Drive to William Street; on North West End Boulevard from Broadway to Parkview Drive; on the east side of Perry Avenue from Broadway to Parkview; on both sides of Bellevue in front of Houck Stadium; and on both sides of Houck Place.

Officers will place signs and other traffic control devices at the above locations.

Those restrictions will start at 2 a.m., on Saturday.

If you car is parked in one of the posted areas, it will be towed to make room for the parade.

The October 17th event will feature more than 120 entries with the floats representing favorite board games.

The parade begins at 9:30 am at Capaha Park and will end at Hutson's Fine Furniture on Main Street.
