A Paducah man was killed in a crash on the Pennyrile Parkway at the 11 mile marker Monday morning.
It happened at the KY 1682/Hopkinsville Bypass interchange around 6:05 a.m.
Robert L. Mayhugh, 40, of Paducah was driving a 2013 Ford Edge southbound when he lost control. The vehicle left the shoulder and traveled into the grass median where it struck a guardrail, according to Kentucky State Police.
He was being flown to Vanderbilt when he was diverted to the Gateway Medical Center where he died.
Traffic is detoured off via the exit ramp, then immediately returning to the parkway via the entry ramp at Exit 11 to avoid the blockage at the crash site, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
The road will be closed as crews complete their investigation. It's estimated the road will be closed until at least 9:15 a.m.
