First Alert: Warmer today; but you may need the umbrella in parts of the Heartland

It is Monday, Oct. 12, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

Your work week kicks off with a beautiful fall day. You might want a sweater as you walk out the door, but Brian’s First Alert Forecast shows it will be mostly sunny and a little warmer than your Sunday. First Alert for those of you in the southeast portion of the Heartland, you might see a thunderstorm today.

Making headlines:

Under Investigation: Police are investigating after a person was killed in Kennett. Captain Tim Trowbridge is calling it a homicide.

Searching for answers: A man is in custody after an off-duty Memphis police officer died of a gunshot wound Sunday afternoon, but what led up to the shooting is unclear at this time. As of Monday morning, the suspect had not been charged with any crime.

Behind bars: A Poplar Bluff man has been arrested in connection with a man who went missing nearly four months ago. Edward Goodwin went missing in June. Now, Eldred Smith is behind bars for first degree assault and armed criminal action.

In recovery: Police are investigating after a man was shot outside of AT&T Stadium. Officers were responding to a fight after the Dallas Cowboys game when they heard a gunshot.
