Untied boat results in search for owner

The Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office & Caruthersville Police Department conducted a rescue operation on the Mississippi River Friday morning.

Employees of Wepfer Marine found an unoccupied boat floating in the river shortly before 9:00 A.M.

The boat registration was matched to a truck & trailer that was parked at a local boat ramp.

The boat was secured and Pemiscot Deputies and a member of the Caruthersville Police Department deployed the County Rescue Boat and began a search for the owner of the boat.

Shortly after beginning the search the boat owner was found and returned to his vehicle.

He was hunting the area and his boat came loose from where he had it tied.

There were no injuries during this incident.
