EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, IL (KFVS) -

Recent shootings in East Cape Girardeau have some residents fed up with the strip club in town.

Four shootings this year are connected to the Pink Pony and now residents are demanding the village board do something about it.

At a special public meeting on Wednesday night, some residents called for the village board to penalize or suspend the Pink Pony's liquor license.

Marlene Freeman was the only board member at the meeting to voice opposition of the strip club.

"I don't want any more shooting. That just needs to stop one way or another,” Freeman said. “And if [Pink Pony owners] can't take responsibility for their building or their parking lot then we'll have to do it.”

“The board has final say on everything,” East Cape Girardeau Mayor Joe Aden said. “And we'll address some of the issue that's been brought up and go from there."

In order for a review of the Pony's liquor license, the board has to agree to put it to a vote at the next meeting scheduled for October 13.
