GA man injured in semi crash on I-57 in Williamson Co.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Officials say a section of Interstate 57 in Williamson County, Illinois is back open after a semi-truck overturned.

Illinois State Police say John P. Bates, 51, of Acworth, Georgia, was traveling south on I-57 near mile marker 52 in a semi-truck pulling a trailer.

Bates apparently left the left side of the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, and overturned as he returned to the road.

Emergency officials from Williamson County and the Marion Fire Department pulled Bates from the vehicle.

He was then airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Bates is facing charges of improper lane usage and driving while ill/fatigued.
