MARION, IL (KFVS) -

A southern Illinois man has dyed his beard pink to raise awareness for breast cancer and other cancers.

Marion native Billy Williams said the issue hits close to his heart because he lost his mother to a months-long batter with lung cancer in 2011.

"If one of my pictures that I've posted on Facebook about me dying my goatee pink, then hey it's worth it," Williams said.

Since his mother's death he has taken to Facebook to get folks thinking about the disease. He wrote that if he received more than 200 "likes" or "shares" on his post, he'd dye his beard pink.

Williams got enough "likes" and dyed his beard pink on October 6.

He said he's done this every year since 2011 and has always got enough likes to dye his beard.
