'Firefighter Appreciation Day' event held in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

People in Cape Girardeau, Missouri got together on Tuesday night, Oct. 6 to say "thanks" to a group of first responders.

Tuesday was deemed "Firefighter Appreciation Day" and an event was held at the conservation center.

Mayor Harry Rediger read a proclamation, making the local holiday official.

The Alma Schrader Elementary School choir also chimed in, and a flag ceremony was put on by some Eagle Scouts.

The event was put on by the same group that organizes "Law Enforcement Day."
