Malden, MO students learn 'virtual reality' in new lab

Students in Malden, Missouri now have virtual reality as part of their education.

On Monday, Oct. 5, the district officially unveiled the new Science and Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics Lab.

It has six 3D printers, a recycling station, an electric station and a 3D Rover projector.

The lab was paid for using grant money, along with some funding from the district.

The superintendent said it's worth every penny.

"Right now, there's a wow factor, so they're having to see everything twice to get the concepts; and as you can see from what they saw, the content, we saw that respirator and our students are going to understand that it's different than seeing it flat and in a book," said Superintendent Kenneth Cook. "Or even seeing it in a 2D, you know, off the internet, where there's a video, you know. It's just a difference."

This is another cool piece of technology in the lab. It is a 3D AV Rover. A pair of 3D glasses brings the display to life.

The great thing about the rover is that it moves, so it can actually travel to the other schools so students of all grade levels can experience it.
