Whether you're ready or not, the holiday season is around the corner.

Travel experts say right now is the time to start booking flights.

Orbitz reports a 2015 holiday travel study showed 71 percent of adults 18-64 said they’ll travel for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and/or New Year’s. That’s six percent more than last year.

Of those who are traveling, about 30 percent said they have already booked a flight or hotel for one or more of these holidays.

According to Orbitz, you can get the best deals on airfare for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve during the week of Oct. 5 to Oct. 12.

Specifically, the best day to book flights for Thanksgiving is Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015.

You can find low fares the week of Oct. 12-16, but by the end of the month tickets are sure to be more expensive.

Travel experts say prices are high for Thanksgiving because a lot of travelers took advantage of summer deals.

For Christmas, Orbitz suggests you book no later than Friday, Oct. 9, 2015. Prices might dip again in early November, but after that airline tickets are expected to stay high through Dec. 25.

When it comes to New Year's eve, Orbitz says the best day to book a flight is on October 10.

Typically, travelers will make plans for the holiday in November. If you book now, you can beat the rush and snag a deal. You could probably wait until the end of the month to find those flights, but experts say don't procrastinate.

When you're looking for that best deal, remember connecting flights aren't always cheaper. If you do book a connecting flight, make sure to fly through airports that aren't notorious for weather delays.
