CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A Cape Girardeau church will celebrate 40 years of ministry in their church facility on Sunday, Oct. 11.

The Cape Church of the Nazarene is located at 2601 Independence Street.

A special service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a carry-in meal to follow. The service will feature special music, remembrances of the church's ministry over the past 40 years and a message delivered by Rev. Kim Smith, district superintendent for the Iowa District Church of the Nazarene and a Cape Girardeau native.

Everyone is invited to attend.

The church was established in Cape Girardeau in 1932, and the original church building was constructed on the corner of Park & Merriwether Streets.

In the early 1970s, the church acquired land on Independence St. near the intersection of East Rodney and Gordonville Rd. The new church was dedicated in 1975.
