CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

You’re invited to Target in Cape Girardeau to take part in the National Night Out event.

It’s part of an annual nationwide effort to strengthen communities by encouraging neighbors to strengthen their relationships and to get to know their law enforcement officers.

This year’s National Night out will take place on Tuesday, October 8 from 4:30-8:00 p.m. at Target on Siemers drive.

The police department will have several patrol vehicles, including the Southeast Missouri Regional Bomb Squad Truck/Robot and the Breath Alcohol Test van.

The Special Response Team and K-9 unit will also be on hand to provide demonstrations.

There will also be a limited number of Free Child ID Kits and Free Target gift bags given away.

The department will also hold its weekly “Neighborhood Roll Call” at 7:00 for folks to learn about what’s going on around town and ask questions.
