1 man killed after single-car crash in Franklin Co., IL

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A West Frankfort man has died after a car crash in Franklin County.

Deputies responded to a one vehicle crash on Yellow Banks Road, 110 miles east of the Big Muddy River Bridge, on Thursday at 10:33 a.m..

The driver, Robert Todd, 63, of West Frankfort, was west bound on Yellow Banks Road.

Officials say his car crossed the railroad tracks and began to negotiate at a curve, when he exited the roadway on the right side and overcorrected. 

The car crossed back and forth several times, out of control.

Todd's car then left the roadway on the left side, struck a concrete culvert, continued west in a deep ditch, and overturned multiple times.

The driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected.

He was conscious at the scene and transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
