NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A Caruthersville, Missouri man was found guilty on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the 2013 murder of Rodney Maxwell.

A New Madrid County jury found Kevin Tilson guilty of second degree murder and armed criminal action.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 10.

According to Attorney General Chris Koster, it was established during the trial that Tilson had asked Maxwell to meet him, planning to rob Maxwell at the meeting.

When Maxwell arrived, Tilson went to Maxwell's truck, robbed him and shot him one time, severing an artery.

Maxwell, bleeding profusely, drove away, then lost consciousness and hit a tree, where he was found by Caruthersville police officers.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Tilson's uncle, Frank Rogers, and his cousin, Dedrick Tilson, also face charges relating to Maxwell's death. Their trial dates have not been set.
