Williamson Co. to have nighttime enforcement patrols

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Williamson County will have Nighttime Enforcement Patrols conducted by the Illinois State Police.

The patrols will take place during the month of October.

The reason behind these patrols is because of the zero tolerance policy that the ISP has for impaired drivers.

Officers conducting these patrols will be watchful for drivers who are operating in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, Driving Under the Influence and those who are not wearing their seat belt.

The program is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety to help keep roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road and ensuring all vehicle occupants are buckled into their seat belt.
