EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) -

A Scott County man is facing felony charges after a fraud investigation by the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials say the investigation began earlier this year when an East Prairie business owner notified deputies that one of her customers had made purchases with checks that were later found to be written from a closed account.

During the investigation, the checks were found to be stolen and the suspect was identified as Kaine Matthew Householder, 35, of Sikeston.

Deputies applied for and obtained a warrant for Householder’s arrest.

He is charged with two counts of forgery.

Householder was taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center with bond set at $8,500.
