Volunteers needed for Paducah warming center

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Community Ministries in Paducah, Kentucky is calling for volunteers to help run the Warming Center located at 1237 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The Warming Center offers an overnight place to stay for those who would otherwise be stuck in the extreme cold. It's open every night the temperature dips below 40 degrees.

Anyone who stays overnight is provided with a meal, a cot to sleep on, clean linens, access to laundry and shower facilities.

The shelter is run entirely by volunteers. However, they do require certain training.

Two training sessions will be held on the following dates for anyone who is interested:

  • Monday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.

During the 2014-20-15 winter months, the Warming Center served around 20 men, women and children.

To sign up, or for more information, contact scheduling coordinator Holly Long. She can be reached at hgklong@comcast.net or (270) 217-9096.
