MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Two teens were injured in a crash on Interstate 24 in McCracken County on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the scene at the Exit 16 westbound off-ramp at around 11:19 a.m.

They say 18-year-old Taylor Simmons, of Paducah, was going westbound on I-24 with her 16-year-old passenger.

Simmons was in the left lane when deputies say she tried to change lanes so she could leave I-24 at Exit 16. They say Simmons did not see a tractor trailer in the right lane and swerved back to the left lane.

When she swerved back, deputies say she lost control of her vehicle and began to spin back toward the right lane.

According to deputies, 36-year-old Phillip Osborn, of Fairmont, Minn., was in another tractor trailer in the right lane of I-24.

They say Osborn saw Simmons almost hit the tractor trailer in front of him and lost control. He swerved to the right to try to avoid Simmons' vehicle, but deputies say she spun directly in front of him and he hit the vehicle.

Simmons and her passenger were taken to a Paducah hospital by ambulance.

Osborn and his passenger, 30-year-old Jessica Behrens, of Fairmont, Minn., were not injured.
