Hayti, MO animal shelter receives grant of more than 20 toys

CHS-PAWS in Hayti, Missouri, a not for profit no-kill shelter, received a grant of KONG toys from the Petfinder Foundation and the Kong Corporation.

These highly durable toys help enrich the dogs held in the kennels and it helps the shelter that operates on donations only.

"It was like Christmas at the shelter," Manager Erma Page said, "We are very grateful for this grant and it will help us a lot."

"While our dogs are exercised several times a day, the KONG toys will help keep them active while in the kennels. This is a great enrichment activity for the dogs," Page went on to say.

The grant sent the shelter over 20 KONG toys. After attending a Petfinder Adoption Option conference earlier this year, CHS-PAWS applied for the grant.

“We value our relationship with Petfinder and the companies that support grants such as these,” Karol Wilcox, president said, “We are always very happy to receive items that benefit the animals while held at the shelter.”

Wilcox said that the shelter is houses between 50 and 70 animals at any time, many who have lengthened stays because of medical treatment.

“Any time we can get help like this, it is just a bonus for all the animals,” she said.
