Missouri's biggest jackpot game, Powerball, will go through some changes starting on Oct. 4.

Mary Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery, said this change will increase the average jackpot amount from $174 million to $310 million. The third-level prize, which is currently $10,000, will increase to $50,000.

Reardon noted the ticket price will stay the same at $2.

Starting on Oct. 4, players will pick five numbers from 1-69 and one number (the Powerball) from 1-26. The overall odds of winning a prize will drop from 1 in 31.85 to 1 in 24.9.

"There will also be a higher mulitplier for those who use Power Play," Reardon said. "When the jackpot is between $40 and $150 million, the multiplier will go as high as 10 times for all prizes, not including the jackpot and $1 million match five prizes."

She said like the current design, the million-dollar prize will bump up to $2 million when the multiplier is matched.
