Southwest MO police officer saves a woman from a snake

(KFVS) -

A police officer in Southwest Missouri is being hailed as a hero after saving a woman from a snake. The Mount Vernon police department posted this story on it's Facebook page.

Police say they were called to a home Friday afternoon after a report of a pet python biting the owner's arm.

When police arrived the five-foot long snake was wrapped around the woman's arm so tight her arm was changing colors because of reduced blood flow.

Cpl. Shaun Cobb is credited with safely removing the snake from her arm.

The woman suffered just minor injuries from the bite and the python was not harmed.
