Brune family spans 3 generations of Cape Central football players

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

For the Brune family, the Cape Central-Jackson game is more than just a rivalry, it's a family affair.

Just ask Jeff Brune. He's one of the nine Brune boys who have played in this game.

"We've talked about the Cape-Jackson game, like every year since birth," Jeff said with a laugh.

"We know that's the game you have to win."

Spanning three generations and picking up 13 wins against Jackson, the Brune family takes this game very seriously.

Jeff's father Brad remembers when the rivalry wasn't so lighthearted.

"Back in my dad's day, " Brad remembered. "It was an actual dislike between the Jackson people and the Cape people."

The Brunes have so much Tiger pride, patriarch Charlie Brune commissioned a statue that resembles a Cape Central football player.

Charlie's son Greg has seen 2 generations of Brunes play and he couldn't be more proud.

"Amazing," Greg said with a tear in his eye. "It's great. We eat and sleep football."

While there are no Brunes on the field right now, their loyalty will always lie with the Tigers.
