ANNISTON, MO (KFVS) -

Authorities in Mississippi County say one man's crime was downright trashy. And now, he's behind bars.

Sheriff's deputies arrested 35-year-old Joseph Martin Bailey after a littering investigation in Mississippi County.

Bailey is from Anniston, Mo. and is charged with a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says the investigation started last week when the department received a complaint that Bailey had been dumping trash on private property near Anniston.

Moore says Bailey was repeatedly asked to remove the rubbish from the property. When he did not comply he was arrested and taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center, bond set at $8500.
