SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

An Illinois man accused of robbing a bank in December of 2014 has been found guilty after a jury trial on Thursday.

The Saline County State's Attorney announced today that Jeffrey Scott Townsend, 43, of Stonefort, Ill., was found guilty of armed robbery.

The Saline County Sheriff's Department and FBI led the investigation, with the help of the Illinois State Police, Carrier Mills Police Department and the Illinois Secretary of State Police.

According to the state's attorney, Townsend entered the First Southern Bank in Carrier Mills, Ill. on December 10 and handed a note over to the tellers demanding money.

He then pulled out a loaded revolver, as well as plastic bags for the tellers to put money in.

Townsend left the bank with $7,877.

An investigation led to the arrest of Townsend and a juvenile in May of 2015 in Midland, Virginia by FBI agents. Midland is about 50 miles southwest of Washington D.C.

A sentencing date has been set for November 18, 2015 in Saline County Circuit Court.
