First Alert Weather Outlook:

Today marks the first full day of fall and it'll feel like it in the morning. But you can expect another great day in the Heartland! A cool morning will ease in to a warm afternoon. Some of you might see some patchy fog just before the sun comes up, and early morning sun may cause some glare as you head to work, so be careful!

Making Headlines:

Disease Scare: A suburban Chicago school district has decided to keep three schools closed. That's because high levels of Legionella bacteria was discovered in the buildings' cooling systems.

Addressing the masses: Pope Francis will become the first pontiff in history to speak to a joint meeting of Congress. He is likely to talk about abortion and "...offer words of encouragement to those called to guide the nation's political future."

Deadly hajj: At least 220 people were killed and hundreds injured in a stampede Thursday at the annual hajj pilgrimage. The stampede was the deadliest disaster at the hajj since 2006.

Annual update: Southern Illinois University President Randy Dunn is expected to reference the state budget situation during his “State of the System” address. He said yesterday they won't be proposing any major new programs this year and the school will be focusing on "reshaping" itself.
