KY caretaker arrested after allegedy stealing medication

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Kentucky woman was arrested Friday after it was determined she was stealing medication from a woman in her care.

Paducah police said the department received information that Phyllis Robinson, 55, of Symsonia, was a paid caregiver for a 52-year-old Paducah woman, and that she had taken controlled pain medications from the woman on several occasions between April and July 2015.

Officials interviewed the victim, who initially denied the theft.

At the urging of friends, the victim finally told police that Robinson had “shorted” her on her medication several times over the previous few months.

She said she and Robinson are friends, and she didn’t want to get Robinson in trouble.

Police notified Adult Protective Services, who began an investigation as well.

Officials presented an investigation to a grand jury, which returned indictments charging Robinson with theft by unlawful taking or disposition of a controlled substance and wanton abuse/neglect of an adult.

She was arrested Friday afternoon and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
