Motorcyclist suffers only minor injuries after crash with semi

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after a collision with a tractor trailer in early Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the semi driver hit the motorcyclist on I-55 near mile marker 116 just before 5 a.m. 

The motorcyclist suffered only minor injuries.

Deputies say when they got to the scene, the motorcyclist was already picking up his bike up off the highway.

The motorcyclist was transferred to the hospital.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
