Expect a warm and comfortable first day of fall

It is Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

Fall is here and you can expect a beautiful start the season! It will feel like autumn as you step out the door. You might even want a light jacket. But you won't need it by the afternoon. The sun will be out. Laura Wibbenmeyer says find some shade and enjoy it.

Making Headlines:

A legend passes: Yogi Berra, the Hall of Fame catcher well-known for his 10 World Series championships with the New York Yankees, has died. He was 90. The St. Louis native died of natural causes.

Honored for service: The life of Trooper Cameron Ponder will be remembered in Trigg County tonight. The sheriff's office is holding a candle light vigil where 954 balloons will be released in Ponder's memory.

Lucky break: A motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after crashing with a semi on I-55 in Cape Girardeau County early Wednesday morning. The driver of the motorcycle only suffered minor injuries.

A special visit: It’s a day of firsts for Pope Francis. On his first full day in the United States, he’ll visit the White House for the first time, where he’ll be the guest of honor at a welcoming ceremony.

What's trending:

Good news: You can now sing "Happy Birthday to you" without the chance of getting sued.
