Jackson police celebrate K-9 retirement

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

The Jackson Police Department is celebrating the retirement of its K-9 officer, Stryker.

Stryker, a full blooded German Shepard, retired after 8 years of service.

The department held a retirement party, complete with a cake for Stryker on Monday.

Stryker will spend the rest of his days at the home of his handler, Officer Ryan Medlin.

The department will continue to help with food and medical care for Stryker.

The new K-9 and handler are in training right now.

K-9 Beny will pick up where Stryker left off.

Beny and his handler, Officer Cody Polley, will be in training for the next 2 months.
