GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Graves County School District has hired an additional resource officer and doubled their safety effort.

“Safety is a priority in today’s world and makes education and other pursuits in life possible and accessible,” said Graves County Schools Superintendent Kim Dublin. “For that very reason, the Graves County School District has employed John Cavin as a School Resource Officer for more than seven years now and others preceded him in that position. Any time Officer Cavin was asked what he most wanted for the district’s police department, he has said, ‘Another officer!’"

“We are pleased that Officer Cavin finally has his wish and that we are able to add a second SRO, starting this school year,” Dublin continued. “He is recently retired from the Kentucky State Police, where he advanced through the ranks at Post 1, Mayfield, over the past 20 years. His name is Jonathan Grant and he’s one of the most respected law enforcement officers in Kentucky! He and John Cavin work well together and with our students, staff, and community. We’re glad to have them both.”
