SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A Sikeston, Missouri man is facing drug charges.

Christopher H. Copeland II, 25, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, on Sunday, Sept. 20, a deputy conducted a vehicle stop on County Highway 405 in Sikeston. Copeland was a passenger in the vehicle and sitting in the rear driver's seat. The driver gave the deputy permission to search the vehicle.

Sheriff Walter said the deputy found a zippered closure bag under the rear padding of the rear driver's seat, where Copeland had been sitting.

The bag allegedly contained a glass pipe and two plastic straws, which all allegedly contained a small amount of a white powdery substance.

Sheriff Walter said Copeland admitted the bag belonged to him. He said Copeland stated he uses the pipe to smoke methamphetamine.

Copeland allegedly said he smoked meth five hours before the traffic stop.

According to the sheriff, the pipe and straws tested positive for the presence of meth.

Copeland was arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail. His bond was set by the court at $7,500 cash or surety.
