Police searching for suspect after break-in at Salvation Army

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Police are investigating after a break in at the Salvation Army in Cape Girardeau over the weekend.

The Salvation Army reports the suspected burglar entered through a window of the Sunday school room, where leaders found the screen cut out.

According to the Salvation Army, the suspect took a VIZIO 50-60" television.

"The officers say it's a travesty that someone would steal from the community," Salvation Army Captain Ronnie Amick said. "The Salvation Army is, and always will be, a building safety for the kids and in the community. It hurts knowing that someone would take from an organization that is there to give back. We now have no TV to do presentations on because of the act of one person."

Police are looking for the stolen item and the burglar.

The Salvation Army reports they believe this was an isolated incident because the last time someone broke into the building was much earlier in the year.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Salvation Army at 573-335-7000.
