First Alert Weather: start out with a sweater this morning, lose it by the afternoon

It is Monday, Sept. 21, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

You may need a light jacket as you head out the door on this Monday morning. The cool morning will ease into a mild and sunny afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be seasonable today. Laura Wibbenmeyer’s First Alert Forecast shows you can likely pack away the rain gear for a while. She says it looks to be rain-free for the entire week.

Making Headlines:

Rude awakening: People staying at an Anna, Ill. hotel got an unwanted wake-up call early Monday morning when a fire broke out on the building's roof. No word yet what caused the fire.

Under investigation: A semi hauling uranium caught fire at the Honeywell plant in Metropolis late Sunday night. Good news, the uranium did not catch fire.

Moving on: Pope Francis flies to eastern Cuba on Monday for the next leg of his pilgrimage. That comes after an "informal and familial" meeting with Fidel Castro.

What's trending:

Big Wins: Topping headlines at the Emmy Awards is Viola Davis. She became the first non-white actress to claim top drama series acting honors. "Game of Thrones" got the most trophies ever in a season.
