TRIGG COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Trigg County Sheriff's Office will host a candle light vigil on Wednesday, Sept. 23 in honor of KSP Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder, who was killed in the line of duty.

The sheriff's office reports it wants everyone to attend to show how much Trooper Ponder meant to Trigg County.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at the West Cadiz Park off of Jefferson Street. It will include guest speakers and 954 balloons will be released in Ponder's memory.

Ponder graduated from the KSP training academy in January. At that time, he was stationed at Post 1 in Mayfield, Ky. and assigned to the Trigg County area.

If you have any questions about the event, you are encouraged to contact Deputy Rick Burgess at 270-522-6014.
