JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

A Cape Girardeau man who was found guilty of killing his wife and son was sentenced to two life sentences plus 50 years on Friday.

George Joseph was found guilty in July of the 2013 shooting deaths of his wife and 18-year-old son.

A judge sentenced Joseph to two life sentences without parole for the murders. He was also sentenced to 50 years for an armed criminal action charge.

During the trial, prosecutors alleged that Joseph's investment business turned into a Ponzi scheme, where he used one client's money to pay back another.

Prosecutors say George Joseph destroyed his family, and tried to take his own life back in May of 2013, because his whole world was crumbling around him.

The two life sentences and the 50 years will be served consecutively.
