Man arrested after shots fired in Charleston, Mo

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

A man is behind bars after a shooting investigation in Charleston, Mo.

Mujahid McKinney, of Charleston, was arrested after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to the Charleston Department of Public Safety, officers received a call around 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 12 in reference to gun shots in the 700 block of Warren Street.

When police got there, they found a vehicle parked at 708 Warren Street that had been shot multiple times.

After further investigation, Charleston DPS reports McKinney was identified as the shooter, however, officer could not locate him.

A warrant was issued for McKinney's arrest.

On Sept. 17, an officer saw McKinney on South Elm Street.

Charleston DPS reports after chasing McKinney for a brief while, the officer arrested him.

McKinney is being held in the Mississippi County Jail on $100,000 cash or surety bond. 

He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, armed criminal action, assault and property damage.

This case is still under investigation.
