First Alert Forecast: Windows down weather this morning, warmer this afternoon

It is Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

It will be another open the windows kind of day. But Brian McCormick’s First Alert Forecast shows it will be a bit warmer than yesterday. There is a good chance you won’t need a jacket when you walk out the door, but you will want to grab your sunglasses because it’s going to be sunny. He’s still tracking rain for the weekend, so look for that outlook on The Breakfast Show.

Making Headlines:

We Remember: The life of slain Kentucky trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder will be honored during a visitation in Kentucky today. The young trooper was shot and later died after conducting a traffic stop that led to a police chase.

Search over: Water patrol found a body late Wednesday evening in the area on the Mississippi River where a man was last seen swimming. The Cape Girardeau Sheriff's Office believes the body is likely the man that drowned at the Trail of Tears boat ramp.

Safe now: We are hoping to learn more about plane that went down in Perry County, Il. on Wednesday. The pilot, and sole occupant, was uninjured after the plane he was piloting landed in a farm field.

To settle: GM is expected to hand over $900 million after a settlement with federal prosecutors. That would resolve a criminal investigation into how the automaker concealed a deadly problem with small-car ignition switches.
