Murphysboro HS students promoting 100 days of peace

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

For the past 100 days, students at Murphysboro High School have been keeping the peace and they’re trying to make it last.

For the past few years administrators here wanted to achieve a goal: to reach 100 days where their high school students promote peace among their peers.

As of September 11, students have reached that goal and then some.

So far reaching 102 days, school administrators with no acts of aggression whether verbally, physically or anything in between – the students have made it to 102 days.

Students say it’s a chance to promote the good that they’re doing.

“I think it’s big because it keeps confrontations and fights away," high school senior, Noah Baird said. "And kids want that reward more.”

Now when there is a disagreement or discipline protocol needs to be taken care of with a student – administrators they want to treat the student with accountability. …Making sure they are aware of their mistakes using communication and conflict resolution.

Administrators say one of the biggest keys in making sure bad behavior doesn’t continue during school is having a line of open communication with the parents.
