Cairo man sentenced to prison for aggravated battery

CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

A Cairo man has been sentenced to prison following an aggravated battery conviction dating back to an incident in 2014.

The Union County State's Attorney announced Wednesday that Lorenzo P. Golden, 39, of Cairo, Illinois has been sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one count of aggravated battery.

Golden allegedly struck a Cairo man in the right hand with a knife in the parking lot of a Cairo business on February 8, 2014.

He was arrested in February 2014 after an investigation by Cairo Police.

Golden was also sentenced to a concurrent term of one year in the prison on one count of driving license revoked.

He was arrested in October of 2013 by Illinois State Police following a traffic stop on Illinois Route 3 in Alexander County.

The Union County State:s Attorney's Office was appointed as Special Prosecutor in both matters.
