Paducah commissioners approve purchase of 65 body cameras for police

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

The Paducah Board of Commissioners approved an ordinance at their Sept. 15 meeting for the purchase of 65 body-worn cameras.

The camera units total $105,540.

The Paducah Police Department had been testing and reviewing body-worn cameras over the past several months to answer questions about durability, capabilities and lifespan. They also tested for technology concerns such as file storage, retrieval and retention.

The ordinance was introduced to the Board at their Sept. 1 meeting, which included a presentation from Police Chief Brandon Barnhill.
