CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A 59-year-old woman is accused of attacking an 18-year-old woman with an aluminum baseball bat on Saturday afternoon in Cape Girardeau.

Police say it happened on South Benton around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday when, according to the victim, Robinson hit her on the head.

The 18-year-old woman reportedly lost consciousness and was taken to a local hospital.

Her family says she has been released and has returned to school.

The grandmother of the teen, Shirley Bell, says when she showed up and saw her grandchild on the ground, she knew something was wrong.

'Vivica laid on the ground and kept saying 'her head, her head' and that's when the police came," Bell said.

59-year-old Larcene Robinson is accused of attacking 18-year-old Vivian Sides-Bell with an aluminum baseball bat.

The suspect daughter, Yameka Robinson, says there's no way possible her mother attacked the teen.

"My mom is legally blind and she had three surgeries in the last month on her eyes," Robinson said. "She also had numerous other surgeries with her liver. Had she been swinging a bat with her being blind, numerous of people would've been hit, not just one."

Bell says she's happy her granddaughter is doing better, but believes this was an unfortunate event.

"I'm happy nothing serious happened, but I hate the lady went to jail but when you do a crime I guess you have to do the time," Bell said.

Larcene Robinson has been charged with a second degree assault and armed criminal action.

Robinson is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
