HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

The Illinois Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate two house fires and damage to a third home in Harrisburg, Ill.

Harrisburg fire crews got the call to Webster street of a home on fire around 8:12 p.m. Monday.

When they arrived the home was engulfed in flames and is a total loss.

Fire Chief John Gunning says this fire spread to a home south of the corner of Webster and Virginia.

It also caught two vehicles on fire at this location.

This second home is likely a total loss as well, according to Chief Gunning.

The heat of the fire caused medium damage to a third home north of the original fire on Webster street.

The the siding, soffits, and windows on one side of the home are melted.

Gunning says the home is structurally sound.

Fire crews from Carrier Mills, Eldorado, and man power from Shawneetown were called in to help fight the fires.

Chief Gunning says he called in the extra crews because the homes were so close to each other and also because the homes were made of wood with wooden siding.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and the State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.

All three homes had people living in them. None were at home when the fires broke out.

The only injuries, according to Gunning, was to himself.

He says a fitting on one of the fire hoses busted, flew off, and hit his hand.

Gunning went to the hospital for treatment and is expected to be okay.

Crews knocked down the flames and had them put out around 11:30 p.m.
