Coming Sept. 19: Archeology Day at Wickliffe Mounds

WICKLIFFE, KY (KFVS) -

Get your hands dirty as part of Kentucky Archaeology Month while visiting Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site.

The park will host “Adventures in Archaeology Day” on September 19.

Guests can take a tour of the park grounds and find education stations set up to demonstrate archaeological practices, including surface surveying, mock excavation, sifting dirt, hands-on laboratory and artifact analysis, and presentations on prehistoric technology.

The special event starts at 9 a.m.

Adventures in Archaeology Day will provide Scouts the opportunity to earn their Archaeology and Indian Lore merit badge requirements. Reservations are required for Scout groups.

The program fee is $5 and includes the event, activities and museum tour. Wickliffe Mounds patches and pins available for $4 each, plus tax.
