River Discovery Center announces 25 teams for Dragon Boat Festival

The River Discovery Center announces the 4th annual Paducah Dragon Boat Festival to be held at Paducah's riverfront on Saturday, September 19.

Proceeds from the event go towards the educational programs of the center. In it's fourth year the festival has raised more than $230,000 for the Center. 

The races will begin promptly at 9 a.m. and run until approximately 3 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch break the races are conducted in heats with three teams racing, and each team will race a minimum of two times. The race course is 250 meters and boats race against the current. 

Beginning Tuesday, September 15 and running daily through Friday, September 18, there will be practice sessions for all the teams from 4-7 p.m. at the riverfront. The public is free to watch those practice sessions.
