SIU moves up in rankings of best colleges

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Southern Illinois University is going places. Up, to be exact, in the latest rankings of best colleges by U.S. News & World Reports.

SIU Carbondale moved up 36 spots in the 2015 rankings to No. 153, tied with Adelphi University and St. John's University, both in New York. SIUC was No. 189 last year.

Acting Chancellor, Randy Dunn, says, "This improvement sends a strong message about the quality of our faculty and staff and their commitment to student success."

SIUC reports this jump was the biggest among the 10 Illinois universities listed in the top tier of the National Universities category.
