Man wanted in connection to Mt. Vernon shooting turns self in

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) -

The 27-year-old man wanted in connection with a July 1 shooting in Mt. Vernon, Illinois has turned himself in. 

Calvin Webster, 27, turned himself in to the Jefferson County Justice Center Tuesday, according to Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Deichman.

Wesbter was wanted in connection with a dispute in the 1000 block of South 25th street that sent one person to the hospital, Deichman said. 

Webster allegedly shot a person in the dispute and police had been searching for him for the past two months. It’s believed he was hiding in the St. Louis area. 

The man he allegedly shot survived and has been released from an area hospital. Webster is being charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm.
