EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) -

An East Prairie man has been arrested after allegedly threatening a witness in a pending investigation against himself.

Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says the investigation began last week when Joshua Grant Sisk, 32, allegedly threatened a deputy, saying there was a ‘hit’ out on other witnesses involved in a case pending against him.

Court records show Sisk was charged earlier this year with possession of an illegal weapon.

The tampering investigation caused officials to believe Sisk had communicated with a witness in a pending criminal case to try and convince the witness from helping the prosecution of that offense.

Based on that information, officials obtained a warrant for Sisk’s arrest.

On Tuesday, deputies found and arrested Sisk, taking him to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

Sisk is now charged with tampering with a witness.

Persons convicted of victim tampering are not eligible for parole.

The latest charge is in addition to a charge of possession of an illegal weapon.

Sisk had been free on bond on that case at the time of the alleged tampering.

Sisk's bond was set at $50,000.
