1 man hospitalized after house fire in Cape Girardeau Co.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Crews responded to a large house fire on County Road 349 in Cape Girardeau County on Friday night, Sept. 4.

According to Cape Girardeau Sheriff's Department Capt. David James, a 43-year-old man was inside the home at the time of the fire.

James says he believes someone pulled him out of the home to safety.

The man is in critical but stable condition and now at a hospital in St. Louis.

Emergency vehicles responded to the scene, including a sheriff's deputy, ambulance and firefighters, and a helicopter landed at around 9:30 p.m.

Multiple fire departments responded, and the state fire marshal has been called to investigate.

No word has been released on a potential cause.
