JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It is certainly a time of year when parents who have been rocked by cancer do everything they can to raise awareness.

The Weber family in Jackson refused to stop believing even after their loved one, Nolan, passed away in December of 2013 after an almost three year battle with brain cancer.

"Believing Beyond", The Nolan Weber Foundation, is planning the second annual Nolan Weber Believers 5K and Family Fun Run or Walk, and this year's first Kids Color Dash.

The event is planned for September 12th beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Jackson high school soccer field parking lot area.

Organizers say last year's event was a huge success as more than 300 people took part in the race.

This year organizers added the one mile course, and the color dash.

According to Nolan's mother, Rachelle Weber, Believing Beyond is inspired by Nolan's faith in God, his never give up spirit, compassion for others and grace during the impossible journey.

The goal of the charitable foundation is to improve the lives of families of children facing catastrophic illnesses such as cancer, and to share Nolan's faith in God by sharing his story and outlook against fighting cancer.

They also want to keep his spirit alive by making a difference in his community by providing faith based activities for youth, scholarships, and improvements to religious, public and school based facilities.
